There, above the cover between the two cherubim that are over the ark of the covenant law, I will meet with you and give you all my commands for the Israelites.

Now the first covenant had regulations for worship and also an earthly sanctuary.
A tabernacle was set up. In its first room were the lampstand and the table with its consecrated bread; this was called the Holy Place.
Behind the second curtain was a room called the Most Holy Place,
which had the golden altar of incense and the gold-covered ark of the covenant. This ark contained the gold jar of manna, Aaron's staff that had budded, and the stone tablets of the covenant.
Above the ark were the cherubim of the Glory, overshadowing the atonement cover. But we cannot discuss these things in detail now.
原來前約有禮拜的條例和屬世界的聖幕。
因為有預備的帳幕，頭一層叫作聖所，裡面有燈臺、桌子，和陳設餅。
第二幔子後又有一層帳幕，叫作至聖所，

David again brought together all the able young men of Israel-thirty thousand.
He and all his men went to Baalah in Judah to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the Name, the name of the Lord Almighty, who is enthroned between the cherubim on the ark.
They set the ark of God on a new cart and brought it from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. Uzzah and Ahio, sons of Abinadab, were guiding the new cart
with the ark of God on it, and Ahio was walking in front of it.
David and all Israel were celebrating with all their might before the Lord, with castanets, harps, lyres, timbrels, sistrums and cymbals.
When they came to the threshing floor of Nakon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark of God, because the oxen stumbled.
The Lord's anger burned against Uzzah because of his irreverent act; therefore God struck him down, and he died there beside the ark of God.
Then David was angry because the Lord's wrath had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah.
David was afraid of the Lord that day and said, "How can the ark of the Lord ever come to me?"
He was not willing to take the ark of the Lord to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.
The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months, and the Lord blessed him and his entire household.
Now King David was told, "The Lord has blessed the household of Obed-Edom and everything he has, because of the ark of God." So David went to bring up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with rejoicing.
When those who were carrying the ark of the Lord had taken six steps, he sacrificed a bull and a fattened calf.
Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might,
while he and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sound of trumpets.
As the ark of the Lord was entering the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. And when she saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, she despised him in her heart.
They brought the ark of the Lord and set it in its place inside the tent that David had pitched for it, and David sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before the Lord.
After he had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord Almighty.
Then he gave a loaf of bread, a cake of dates and a cake of raisins to each person in the whole crowd of Israelites, both men and women. And all the people went to their homes.
When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said, "How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, going around half-naked in full view of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!"
David said to Michal, "It was before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the Lord's people Israel-I will celebrate before the Lord.
I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor."
And Michal daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death.
大衛又聚集以色列中所有挑選的人三萬。
大衛起身，率領跟隨他的眾人前往，要從巴拉猶大將神的約櫃運來；這約櫃就是坐在二基路伯上萬軍之耶和華留名的約櫃。
他們將神的約櫃從岡上亞比拿達的家裡抬出來，放在新車上；亞比拿達的兩個兒子烏撒和亞希約趕這新車。
他們將神的約櫃從岡上亞比拿達家裡抬出來的時候，亞希約在櫃前行走。
大衛和以色列的全家在耶和華面前，用松木製造的各樣樂器和琴、瑟、鼓、鈸、鑼，作樂跳舞。
到了拿艮的禾場，因為牛失前蹄（或作：驚跳），烏撒就伸手扶住神的約櫃。
神耶和華向烏撒發怒，因這錯誤擊殺他，他就死在神的約櫃旁。
大衛因耶和華擊殺（原文作闖殺）烏撒，心裡愁煩，就稱那地方為毗列斯烏撒，直到今日。
那日，大衛懼怕耶和華，說：「耶和華的約櫃怎可運到我這裡來？」
於是大衛不肯將耶和華的約櫃運進大衛的城，卻運到迦特人俄別以東的家中。
耶和華的約櫃在迦特人俄別以東家中三個月；耶和華賜福給俄別以東和他的全家。
有人告訴大衛王說：「耶和華因為約櫃賜福給俄別以東的家和一切屬他的。」大衛就去，歡歡喜喜地將神的約櫃從俄別以東家中抬到大衛的城裡。
抬耶和華約櫃的人走了六步，大衛就獻牛與肥羊為祭。
大衛穿著細麻布的以弗得，在耶和華面前極力跳舞。
這樣，大衛和以色列的全家歡呼吹角，將耶和華的約櫃抬上來。
耶和華的約櫃進了大衛城的時候，掃羅的女兒米甲從窗戶裡觀看，見大衛王在耶和華面前踴躍跳舞，心裡就輕視他。
眾人將耶和華的約櫃請進去，安放在所預備的地方，就是在大衛所搭的帳幕裡。大衛在耶和華面前獻燔祭和平安祭。
大衛獻完了燔祭和平安祭，就奉萬軍之耶和華的名給民祝福，
並且分給以色列眾人，無論男女，每人一個餅，一塊肉，一個葡萄餅；眾人就各回各家去了。
大衛回家要給眷屬祝福；掃羅的女兒米甲出來迎接他，說：「以色列王今日在臣僕的婢女眼前露體，如同一個輕賤人無恥露體一樣，有好大的榮耀啊！」
大衛對米甲說：「這是在耶和華面前；耶和華已揀選我，廢了你父和你父的全家，立我作耶和華民以色列的君，所以我必在耶和華面前跳舞。
我也必更加卑微，自己看為輕賤。你所說的那些婢女，他們倒要尊敬我。」
掃羅的女兒米甲，直到死日，沒有生養兒女。
詩篇 132:8
'Arise, Lord, and come to your resting place, you and the ark of your might.
耶和華啊，求你興起，和你有能力的約櫃同入安息之所！

Whenever the ark set out, Moses said, "Rise up, Lord! May your enemies be scattered; may your foes flee before you."

Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood-two and a half cubits long, a cubit and a half wide, and a cubit and a half high.
He overlaid it with pure gold, both inside and out, and made a gold molding around it.
He cast four gold rings for it and fastened them to its four feet, with two rings on one side and two rings on the other.
Then he made poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold.
And he inserted the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry it.
He made the atonement cover of pure gold-two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide.
Then he made two cherubim out of hammered gold at the ends of the cover.
He made one cherub on one end and the second cherub on the other; at the two ends he made them of one piece with the cover.
The cherubim had their wings spread upward, overshadowing the cover with them. The cherubim faced each other, looking toward the cover.
比撒列用皂莢木做櫃，長二肘半，寬一肘半，高一肘半。
裡外包上精金，四圍鑲上金牙邊，
又鑄四個金環，安在櫃的四腳上：這邊兩環，那邊兩環。
用皂莢木做兩根槓，用金包裹。
把槓穿在櫃旁的環內，以便抬櫃。
用精金做施恩座，長二肘半，寬一肘半。
用金子錘出兩個基路伯來，安在施恩座的兩頭，
這頭做一個基路伯，那頭做一個基路伯，二基路伯接連一塊，在施恩座的兩頭。
二基路伯高張翅膀，遮掩施恩座；基路伯是臉對臉，朝著施恩座。
民數記 10:33
So they set out from the mountain of the Lord and traveled for three days. The ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them during those three days to find them a place to rest.

The Philistines deployed their forces to meet Israel, and as the battle spread, Israel was defeated by the Philistines, who killed about four thousand of them on the battlefield.
When the soldiers returned to camp, the elders of Israel asked, "Why did the Lord bring defeat on us today before the Philistines? Let us bring the ark of the Lord's covenant from Shiloh, so that he may go with us and save us from the hand of our enemies."
So the people sent men to Shiloh, and they brought back the ark of the covenant of the Lord Almighty, who is enthroned between the cherubim. And Eli's two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.
When the ark of the Lord's covenant came into the camp, all Israel raised such a great shout that the ground shook.
Hearing the uproar, the Philistines asked, "What's all this shouting in the Hebrew camp?" When they learned that the ark of the Lord had come into the camp,
the Philistines were afraid. "A god has come into the camp," they said. "Oh no! Nothing like this has happened before.
We're doomed! Who will deliver us from the hand of these mighty gods? They are the gods who struck the Egyptians with all kinds of plagues in the wilderness.
Be strong, Philistines! Be men, or you will be subject to the Hebrews, as they have been to you. Be men, and fight!"
So the Philistines fought, and the Israelites were defeated and every man fled to his tent. The slaughter was very great; Israel lost thirty thousand foot soldiers.
The ark of God was captured, and Eli's two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, died.
That same day a Benjamite ran from the battle line and went to Shiloh with his clothes torn and dust on his head.
When he arrived, there was Eli sitting on his chair by the side of the road, watching, because his heart feared for the ark of God. When the man entered the town and told what had happened, the whole town sent up a cry.
Eli heard the outcry and asked, "What is the meaning of this uproar?" The man hurried over to Eli,
who was ninety-eight years old and whose eyes had failed so that he could not see.
He told Eli, "I have just come from the battle line; I fled from it this very day." Eli asked, "What happened, my son?"
The man who brought the news replied, "Israel fled before the Philistines, and the army has suffered heavy losses. Also your two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God has been captured."
When he mentioned the ark of God, Eli fell backward off his chair by the side of the gate. His neck was broken and he died, for he was an old man, and he was heavy. He had led Israel forty years.
His daughter-in-law, the wife of Phinehas, was pregnant and near the time of delivery. When she heard the news that the ark of God had been captured and that her father-in-law and her husband were dead, she went into labor and gave birth, but was overcome by her labor pains.
As she was dying, the women attending her said, "Don't despair; you have given birth to a son." But she did not respond or pay any attention.
She named the boy Ichabod, saying, "The Glory has departed from Israel"-because of the capture of the ark of God and the deaths of her father-in-law and her husband.
She said, "The Glory has departed from Israel, for the ark of God has been captured."

耶和華的約櫃到了營中，以色列眾人就大聲歡呼，地便震動。
非利士人聽見歡呼的聲音，就說：「在希伯來人營裡大聲歡呼，是什麼緣故呢？」隨後就知道耶和華的約櫃到了營中。
非利士人就懼怕起來，說：「有神到了他們營中」；又說：「我們有禍了！向來不曾有這樣的事。
我們有禍了！誰能救我們脫離這些大能之神的手呢？從前在曠野用各樣災殃擊打埃及人的，就是這些神。
非利士人哪，你們要剛強，要作大丈夫，免得作希伯來人的奴僕，如同他們作你們的奴僕一樣。你們要作大丈夫，與他們爭戰。」
非利士人和以色列人打仗，以色列人敗了，各向各家奔逃，被殺的人甚多，以色列的步兵仆倒了三萬。
神的約櫃被擄去，以利的兩個兒子何弗尼、非尼哈也都被殺了。
當日，有一個便雅憫人從陣上逃跑，衣服撕裂，頭蒙灰塵，來到示羅。
到了的時候，以利正在道旁坐在自己的位上觀望，為神的約櫃心裡擔憂。那人進城報信，合城的人就都呼喊起來。
以利聽見呼喊的聲音就問說：「這喧嚷是什麼緣故呢？」那人急忙來報信給以利。
那時以利九十八歲了，眼目發直，不能看見。
那人對以利說：「我是從陣上來的，今日我從陣上逃回。」以利說：「我兒，事情怎樣？」
報信的回答說：「以色列人在非利士人面前逃跑，民中被殺的甚多！你的兩個兒子何弗尼、非尼哈也都死了，並且神的約櫃被擄去。」
他一提神的約櫃，以利就從他的位上往後跌倒，在門旁折斷頸項而死；因為他年紀老邁，身體沉重。以利作以色列的士師四十年。
以利的兒婦、非尼哈的妻懷孕將到產期，他聽見神的約櫃被擄去，公公和丈夫都死了，就猛然疼痛，曲身生產；
將要死的時候，旁邊站著的婦人們對他說：「不要怕！你生了男孩子了。」他卻不回答，也不放在心上。
他給孩子起名叫以迦博，說：「榮耀離開以色列了！」這是因神的約櫃被擄去，又因他公公和丈夫都死了。
他又說：「榮耀離開以色列，因為神的約櫃被擄去了。」

Then Solomon awoke-and he realized it had been a dream. He returned to Jerusalem, stood before the ark of the Lord's covenant and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. Then he gave a feast for all his court.
所羅門醒了，不料是個夢。他就回到耶路撒冷，站在耶和華的約櫃前，獻燔祭和平安祭，又為他眾臣僕設擺筵席。

These poles were so long that their ends could be seen from the Holy Place in front of the inner sanctuary, but not from outside the Holy Place; and they are still there today.
