Why do you boast of evil, you mighty hero? Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God?
You who practice deceit, your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor.
You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth.
You love every harmful word, you deceitful tongue!
Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin: He will snatch you up and pluck you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living.
The righteous will see and fear; they will laugh at you, saying,
"Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others!"
（以東人多益來告訴掃羅說：「大衛到了亞希米勒家。」那時，大衛作這訓誨詩，交與伶長。）勇士啊，你為何以作惡自誇？神的慈愛是常存的。

A fortune made by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor and a deadly snare.
用詭詐之舌求財的，就是自己取死；所得之財乃是吹來吹去的浮雲。
箴言 28:8
Whoever increases wealth by taking interest or profit from the poor amasses it for another, who will be kind to the poor.
人以厚利加增財物，是給那憐憫窮人者積蓄的。

As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. "Good teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
"Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good-except God alone.
You know the commandments: 'You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.' "
"Teacher," he declared, "all these I have kept since I was a boy."
Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
At this the man's face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.
Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!"
The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!
It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God."
The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, "Who then can be saved?"
Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God."
耶穌出來行路的時候，有一個人跑來，跪在他面前，問他說：「良善的夫子，我當做什麼事才可以承受永生？」
耶穌對他說：「你為什麼稱我是良善的？除了神一位之外，再沒有良善的。
誡命你是曉得的：不可殺人；不可姦淫；不可偷盜；不可作假見證；不可虧負人；當孝敬父母。」
他對耶穌說：「夫子，這一切我從小都遵守了。」
耶穌看著他，就愛他，對他說：「你還缺少一件：去變賣你所有的，分給窮人，就必有財寶在天上；你還要來跟從我。」
他聽見這話，臉上就變了色，憂憂愁愁的走了，因為他的產業很多。
耶穌周圍一看，對門徒說：「有錢財的人進神的國是何等的難哪！」
門徒希奇他的話。耶穌又對他們說：「小子，倚靠錢財的人進神的國是何等的難哪！
駱駝穿過針的眼，比財主進神的國還容易呢。」
門徒就分外希奇，對他說：「這樣誰能得救呢？」
耶穌看著他們，說：「在人是不能，在神卻不然，因為神凡事都能。」
箴言 15:6
The house of the righteous contains great treasure, but the income of the wicked brings ruin.
義人家中多有財寶；惡人得利反受擾害。

Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice.
多有財利，行事不義，不如少有財利，行事公義。

Do not wear yourself out to get rich; do not trust your own cleverness.
Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle. Saying 9
不要勞碌求富，休仗自己的聰明。
你豈要定睛在虛無的錢財上嗎？因錢財必長翅膀，如鷹向天飛去。
傳道書 6:1

I have seen another evil under the sun, and it weighs heavily on mankind:
God gives some people wealth, possessions and honor, so that they lack nothing their hearts desire, but God does not grant them the ability to enjoy them, and strangers enjoy them instead. This is meaningless, a grievous evil.
A man may have a hundred children and live many years; yet no matter how long he lives, if he cannot enjoy his prosperity and does not receive proper burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.
It comes without meaning, it departs in darkness, and in darkness its name is shrouded.
Though it never saw the sun or knew anything, it has more rest than does that man-
even if he lives a thousand years twice over but fails to enjoy his prosperity. Do not all go to the same place?
Everyone's toil is for their mouth, yet their appetite is never satisfied.
What advantage have the wise over fools? What do the poor gain by knowing how to conduct themselves before others?
Better what the eye sees than the roving of the appetite. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
Whatever exists has already been named, and what humanity is has been known; no one can contend with someone who is stronger.
The more the words, the less the meaning, and how does that profit anyone?
我見日光之下有一宗禍患重壓在人身上，
就是人蒙神賜他資財、豐富、尊榮，以致他心裡所願的一樣都不缺，只是神使他不能吃用，反有外人來吃用。這是虛空，也是禍患。
人若生一百個兒子，活許多歲數，以致他的年日甚多，心裡卻不得滿享福樂，又不得埋葬；據我說，那不到期而落的胎比他倒好。
因為虛虛而來，暗暗而去，名字被黑暗遮蔽，
並且沒有見過天日，也毫無知覺；這胎，比那人倒享安息。
那人雖然活千年，再活千年，卻不享福，眾人豈不都歸一個地方去嗎？
人的勞碌都為口腹，心裡卻不知足。
這樣看來，智慧人比愚昧人有什麼長處呢？窮人在眾人面前知道如何行，有什麼長處呢？
眼睛所看的比心裡妄想的倒好。這也是虛空，也是捕風。
先前所有的，早已起了名，並知道何為人，他也不能與那比自己力大的相爭。
加增虛浮的事既多，這與人有什麼益處呢？
以賽亞書 5:8

Woe to you who add house to house and join field to field till no space is left and you live alone in the land.
The Lord Almighty has declared in my hearing: "Surely the great houses will become desolate, the fine mansions left without occupants.
禍哉！那些以房接房，以地連地，以致不留餘地的，只顧自己獨居境內。
我耳聞萬軍之耶和華說：必有許多又大又美的房屋成為荒涼，無人居住。
以西結書 28:5
By your great skill in trading you have increased your wealth, and because of your wealth your heart has grown proud.
你靠自己的大智慧和貿易增添資財，又因資財心裡高傲。
馬可福音 4:19
but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.
後來有世上的思慮、錢財的迷惑，和別樣的私慾進來，把道擠住了，就不能結實。

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.
In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
你要囑咐那些今世富足的人，不要自高，也不要倚靠無定的錢財；只要倚靠那厚賜百物給我們享受的神。
又要囑咐他們行善，在好事上富足，甘心施捨，樂意供給（或作：體貼）人，
為自己積成美好的根基，預備將來，叫他們持定那真正的生命。
列王記上 10:23

King Solomon was greater in riches and wisdom than all the other kings of the earth.
The whole world sought audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart.
Year after year, everyone who came brought a gift-articles of silver and gold, robes, weapons and spices, and horses and mules.
Solomon accumulated chariots and horses; he had fourteen hundred chariots and twelve thousand horses, which he kept in the chariot cities and also with him in Jerusalem.
The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar as plentiful as sycamore-fig trees in the foothills.
所羅門王的財寶與智慧勝過天下的列王。
普天下的王都求見所羅門，要聽神賜給他智慧的話。
他們各帶貢物，就是金器、銀器、衣服、軍械、香料、騾馬，每年有一定之例。
所羅門聚集戰車馬兵，有戰車一千四百輛，馬兵一萬二千名，安置在屯車的城邑和耶路撒冷，就是王那裡。
王在耶路撒冷使銀子多如石頭，香柏木多如高原的桑樹。
箴言 10:2
Ill-gotten treasures have no lasting value, but righteousness delivers from death.
不義之財毫無益處；惟有公義能救人脫離死亡。

Better a little with the fear of the Lord than great wealth with turmoil.
Better a small serving of vegetables with love than a fattened calf with hatred.

"Woe to him who builds his palace by unrighteousness, his upper rooms by injustice, making his own people work for nothing, not paying them for their labor.
He says, 'I will build myself a great palace with spacious upper rooms.' So he makes large windows in it, panels it with cedar and decorates it in red.
"Does it make you a king to have more and more cedar? Did not your father have food and drink? He did what was right and just, so all went well with him.
He defended the cause of the poor and needy, and so all went well. Is that not what it means to know me?" declares the Lord.
"But your eyes and your heart are set only on dishonest gain, on shedding innocent blood and on oppression and extortion."
Therefore this is what the Lord says about Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah: "They will not mourn for him: 'Alas, my brother! Alas, my sister!' They will not mourn for him: 'Alas, my master! Alas, his splendor!'
He will have the burial of a donkey- dragged away and thrown outside the gates of Jerusalem."
那行不義蓋房、行不公造樓、白白使用人的手工不給工價的有禍了！
他說：我要為自己蓋廣大的房、寬敞的樓，為自己開窗戶。這樓房的護牆板是香柏木的，樓房是丹色油漆的。
難道你作王是在乎造香柏木樓房爭勝嗎？你的父親豈不是也吃也喝、也施行公平和公義嗎？那時他得了福樂。
他為困苦和窮乏人伸冤，那時就得了福樂。認識我不在乎此嗎？這是耶和華說的。
惟有你的眼和你的心專顧貪婪，流無辜人的血，行欺壓和強暴。
所以，耶和華論到猶大王約西亞的兒子約雅敬如此說：人必不為他舉哀說：哀哉！我的哥哥；或說：哀哉！我的姊姊；也不為他舉哀說：哀哉！我的主；或說：哀哉！我主的榮華。
他被埋葬，好像埋驢一樣，要拉出去扔在耶路撒冷的城門之外。

be careful that you do not forget the Lord, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

Why do the wicked live on, growing old and increasing in power?
They see their children established around them, their offspring before their eyes.
Their homes are safe and free from fear; the rod of God is not on them.
Their bulls never fail to breed; their cows calve and do not miscarry.
They send forth their children as a flock; their little ones dance about.
They sing to the music of timbrel and lyre; they make merry to the sound of the pipe.
They spend their years in prosperity and go down to the grave in peace.
Yet they say to God, 'Leave us alone! We have no desire to know your ways.
Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him? What would we gain by praying to him?'
惡人為何存活，享大壽數，勢力強盛呢？
他們眼見兒孫，和他們一同堅立。
他們的家宅平安無懼；神的杖也不加在他們身上。
他們的公牛孳生而不斷絕；母牛下犢而不掉胎。
他們打發小孩子出去，多如羊群；他們的兒女踴躍跳舞。

箴言 11:4
Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.
發怒的日子資財無益；惟有公義能救人脫離死亡。
箴言 11:28
Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.
倚仗自己財物的，必跌倒；義人必發旺，如青葉。
箴言 18:11
The wealth of the rich is their fortified city; they imagine it a wall too high to scale.
富足人的財物是他的堅城，在他心想，猶如高牆。

The poor plead for mercy, but the rich answer harshly.

Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds;

and have grown fat and sleek. Their evil deeds have no limit; they do not seek justice. They do not promote the case of the fatherless; they do not defend the just cause of the poor.
Should I not punish them for this?" declares the Lord. "Should I not avenge myself on such a nation as this?
籠內怎樣滿了雀鳥，他們的房中也照樣充滿詭詐；所以他們得成為大，而且富足。
他們肥胖光潤，作惡過甚，不為人伸冤！就是不為孤兒伸冤，不使他亨通，也不為窮人辨屈。
耶和華說：我豈不因這些事討罪呢？豈不報復這樣的國民呢？
馬太福音 6:19

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
「不要為自己積儹財寶在地上；地上有蟲子咬，能(金秀)壞，也有賊挖窟窿來偷。
只要積儹財寶在天上；天上沒有蟲子咬，不能(金秀)壞，也沒有賊挖窟窿來偷。
因為你的財寶在那裡，你的心也在那裡。」
馬太福音 13:22
The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.
撒在荊棘裡的，就是人聽了道，後來有世上的思慮、錢財的迷惑把道擠住了，不能結實。
路加福音 6:24
"But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort.
但你們富足的人有禍了！因為你們受過你們的安慰。
路加福音 16:13

"No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."
The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus.
一個僕人不能事奉兩個主；不是惡這個愛那個，就是重這個輕那個。你們不能又事奉神，又事奉瑪門。」
法利賽人是貪愛錢財的，他們聽見這一切話，就嗤笑耶穌。

Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position.
But the rich should take pride in their humiliation-since they will pass away like a wild flower.
For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business.
卑微的弟兄升高，就該喜樂；
富足的降卑，也該如此；因為他必要過去，如同草上的花一樣。

But you have dishonored the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court?
Are they not the ones who are blaspheming the noble name of him to whom you belong?
你們反倒羞辱貧窮人。那富足人豈不是欺壓你們，拉你們到公堂去嗎？
他們不是褻瀆你們所敬奉（所敬奉：或作被稱）的尊名嗎？
申命記 8:10

When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.
Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.
Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down,
and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied,
then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
He led you through the vast and dreadful wilderness, that thirsty and waterless land, with its venomous snakes and scorpions. He brought you water out of hard rock.
He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known, to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you.
You may say to yourself, "My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me."
But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.
你吃得飽足，就要稱頌耶和華你的神，因他將那美地賜給你了。」
「你要謹慎，免得忘記耶和華你的神，不守他的誡命、典章、律例，就是我今日所吩咐你的；
恐怕你吃得飽足，建造美好的房屋居住，
你的牛羊加多，你的金銀增添，並你所有的全都加增，

恐怕你心裡說：『這貨財是我力量、我能力得來的。』

尼希米記 5:1

Now the men and their wives raised a great outcry against their fellow Jews.
Some were saying, "We and our sons and daughters are numerous; in order for us to eat and stay alive, we must get grain."
Others were saying, "We are mortgaging our fields, our vineyards and our homes to get grain during the famine."
Still others were saying, "We have had to borrow money to pay the king's tax on our fields and vineyards.
Although we are of the same flesh and blood as our fellow Jews and though our children are as good as theirs, yet we have to subject our sons and daughters to slavery. Some of our daughters have already been enslaved, but we are powerless, because our fields and our vineyards belong to others."
When I heard their outcry and these charges, I was very angry.
I pondered them in my mind and then accused the nobles and officials. I told them, "You are charging your own people interest!" So I called together a large meeting to deal with them
and said: "As far as possible, we have bought back our fellow Jews who were sold to the Gentiles. Now you are selling your own people, only for them to be sold back to us!" They kept quiet, because they could find nothing to say.
So I continued, "What you are doing is not right. Shouldn't you walk in the fear of our God to avoid the reproach of our Gentile enemies?
I and my brothers and my men are also lending the people money and grain. But let us stop charging interest!
Give back to them immediately their fields, vineyards, olive groves and houses, and also the interest you are charging them-one percent of the money, grain, new wine and olive oil."
"We will give it back," they said. "And we will not demand anything more from them. We will do as you say." Then I summoned the priests and made the nobles and officials take an oath to do what they had promised.
I also shook out the folds of my robe and said, "In this way may God shake out of their house and possessions anyone who does not keep this promise. So may such a person be shaken out and emptied!" At this the whole assembly said, "Amen," and praised the Lord. And the people did as they had promised.
Moreover, from the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, until his thirty-second year-twelve years-neither I nor my brothers ate the food allotted to the governor.
But the earlier governors-those preceding me-placed a heavy burden on the people and took forty shekels of silver from them in addition to food and wine. Their assistants also lorded it over the people. But out of reverence for God I did not act like that.
Instead, I devoted myself to the work on this wall. All my men were assembled there for the work; we did not acquire any land.
Furthermore, a hundred and fifty Jews and officials ate at my table, as well as those who came to us from the surrounding nations.
Each day one ox, six choice sheep and some poultry were prepared for me, and every ten days an abundant supply of wine of all kinds. In spite of all this, I never demanded the food allotted to the governor, because the demands were heavy on these people.
Remember me with favor, my God, for all I have done for these people.
百姓和他們的妻大大呼號，埋怨他們的弟兄猶大人。
有的說：「我們和兒女人口眾多，要去得糧食度命」；
有的說：「我們典了田地、葡萄園、房屋，要得糧食充飢」；
有的說：「我們已經指著田地、葡萄園，借了錢給王納稅。
我們的身體與我們弟兄的身體一樣；我們的兒女與他們的兒女一般。現在我們將要使兒女作人的僕婢，我們的女兒已有為婢的；我們並無力拯救，因為我們的田地、葡萄園已經歸了別人。」
我聽見他們呼號說這些話，便甚發怒。
我心裡籌劃，就斥責貴冑和官長說：「你們各人向弟兄取利！」於是我招聚大會攻擊他們。
我對他們說：「我們盡力贖回我們弟兄，就是賣與外邦的猶大人；你們還要賣弟兄，使我們贖回來嗎？」他們就靜默不語，無話可答。
我又說：「你們所行的不善！你們行事不當敬畏我們的神嗎？不然，難免我們的仇敵外邦人毀謗我們。
我和我的弟兄與僕人也將銀錢糧食借給百姓；我們大家都當免去利息。
如今我勸你們將他們的田地、葡萄園、橄欖園、房屋，並向他們所取的銀錢、糧食、新酒，和油，百分之一的利息都歸還他們。」
眾人說：「我們必歸還，不再向他們索要，必照你的話行。」我就召了祭司來，叫眾人起誓，必照著所應許的而行。
我也抖著胸前的衣襟，說：「凡不成就這應許的，願神照樣抖他離開家產和他勞碌得來的，直到抖空了。」會眾都說：「阿們！」又讚美耶和華。百姓就照著所應許的去行。
自從我奉派作猶大地的省長，就是從亞達薛西王二十年直到三十二年，共十二年之久，我與我弟兄都沒有吃省長的俸祿。
在我以前的省長加重百姓的擔子，每日索要糧食和酒，並銀子四十舍客勒，就是他們的僕人也轄制百姓；但我因敬畏神不這樣行。
並且我恆心修造城牆，並沒有置買田地；我的僕人也都聚集在那裡做工。
除了從四圍外邦中來的猶大人以外，有猶大平民和官長一百五十人在我席上吃飯。
每日預備一隻公牛，六隻肥羊，又預備些飛禽；每十日一次，多預備各樣的酒。雖然如此，我並不要省長的俸祿，因為百姓服役甚重。
我的神啊，求你記念我為這百姓所行的一切事，施恩與我。
約伯記 31:24

The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it.
A fool finds pleasure in wicked schemes, but a person of understanding delights in wisdom.
What the wicked dread will overtake them; what the righteous desire will be granted.
When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever.
As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so are sluggards to those who send them.
The fear of the Lord adds length to life, but the years of the wicked are cut short.
耶和華所賜的福使人富足，並不加上憂慮。
愚妄人以行惡為戲耍；明哲人卻以智慧為樂。
惡人所怕的，必臨到他；義人所願的，必蒙應允。
暴風一過，惡人歸於無有；義人的根基卻是永久。
懶惰人叫差他的人如醋倒牙，如煙薰目。
敬畏耶和華使人日子加多；但惡人的年歲必被減少。
箴言 13:7

One person pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.
A person's riches may ransom their life, but the poor cannot respond to threatening rebukes.
假作富足的，卻一無所有；裝作窮乏的，卻廣有財物。
人的資財是他生命的贖價；窮乏人卻聽不見威嚇的話。
箴言 28:11
The rich are wise in their own eyes; one who is poor and discerning sees how deluded they are.
富足人自以為有智慧，但聰明的貧窮人能將他查透。
箴言 30:8

Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.
Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, 'Who is the Lord?' Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.
求你使虛假和謊言遠離我；使我也不貧窮也不富足；賜給我需用的飲食，
恐怕我飽足不認你，說：耶和華是誰呢？又恐怕我貧窮就偷竊，以致褻瀆我神的名。
耶利米書 5:7

"Why should I forgive you? Your children have forsaken me and sworn by gods that are not gods. I supplied all their needs, yet they committed adultery and thronged to the houses of prostitutes.
They are well-fed, lusty stallions, each neighing for another man's wife.
Should I not punish them for this?" declares the Lord. "Should I not avenge myself on such a nation as this?
我怎能赦免你呢？你的兒女離棄我，又指著那不是神的起誓。我使他們飽足，他們就行姦淫，成群地聚集在娼妓家裡。
他們像餵飽的馬到處亂跑，各向他鄰舍的妻發嘶聲。
耶和華說：我豈不因這些事討罪呢？豈不報復這樣的國民呢？
耶利米書 48:36
"So my heart laments for Moab like the music of a pipe; it laments like a pipe for the people of Kir Hareseth. The wealth they acquired is gone.
我心腹為摩押哀鳴如簫，我心腸為吉珥哈列設人也是如此，因摩押人所得的財物都滅沒了。
