箴言 26:20 - 22 Without wood a fire goes out; without a gossip a quarrel dies down. As charcoal to embers and as wood to fire, so is a quarrelsome person for kindling strife. The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to the inmost parts.
火缺了柴就必熄滅;無人傳舌,爭競便止息。 好爭競的人煽惑爭端,就如餘火加炭,火上加柴一樣。 傳舌人的言語,如同美食,深入人的心腹。
箴言 25:23 Like a north wind that brings unexpected rain is a sly tongue-which provokes a horrified look.
北風生雨,讒謗人的舌頭也生怒容。
利未記 19:16 " 'Do not go about spreading slander among your people. " 'Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor's life. I am the Lord.
不可在民中往來搬弄是非,也不可與鄰舍為敵,置之於死(原文作流他的血)。我是耶和華。

傳舌人的言語如同美食,深入人的心腹。
以弗所書 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
污穢的言語一句不可出口,只要隨事說造就人的好話,叫聽見的人得益處。
以弗所書 5:4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.
淫詞、妄語,和戲笑的話都不相宜;總要說感謝的話。
詩篇 52:2 You who practice deceit, your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor.
你的舌頭邪惡詭詐,好像剃頭刀,快利傷人。
箴言 10:8 - 10 The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin. Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out. Whoever winks maliciously causes grief, and a chattering fool comes to ruin.
心中智慧的,必受命令;口裡愚妄的,必致傾倒。 行正直路的,步步安穩;走彎曲道的,必致敗露。 以眼傳神的,使人憂患;口裡愚妄的,必致傾倒。
箴言 20:19 A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid anyone who talks too much.
往來傳舌的,洩漏密事;大張嘴的,不可與他結交。
提摩太後書 2:14 - 16 Keep reminding God's people of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen. Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.
你要使眾人回想這些事,在主面前囑咐他們:不可為言語爭辯;這是沒有益處的,只能敗壞聽見的人。 你當竭力在神面前得蒙喜悅,作無愧的工人,按著正意分解真理的道。 但要遠避世俗的虛談,因為這等人必進到更不敬虔的地步。
詩篇 34:13 keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies.
就要禁止舌頭不出惡言,嘴唇不說詭詐的話。
箴言 15:28 The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil.
義人的心,思量如何回答;惡人的口吐出惡言。

乖僻人播散分爭;傳舌的,離間密友。

提多書 1:15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.
在潔淨的人,凡物都潔淨;在污穢不信的人,什麼都不潔淨,連心地和天良也都污穢了。
箴言 15:4 The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.
溫良的舌是生命樹;乖謬的嘴使人心碎。
提摩太前書 5:13 Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also busybodies who talk nonsense, saying things they ought not to.
並且他們又習慣懶惰,挨家閒遊;不但是懶惰,又說長道短,好管閒事,說些不當說的話。

提摩太啊,你要保守所託付你的,躲避世俗的虛談和那敵真道、似是而非的學問。
雅各書 3:6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one's life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
舌頭就是火,在我們百體中,舌頭是個罪惡的世界,能污穢全身,也能把生命的輪子點起來,並且是從地獄裡點著的。
